India has an excellent policy for food security, it is the National Food Security Act of 2013. This act promises and provides subsidisied ration for the people living below the poverty line. The subsidised price of rice is INR 3 per kilogram and INR 2 per kilogram of wheat. These foodgrains are to be distributed by the Government approved Public Distribution Shops, to the beneficiaries with Ration Cards.
Though this is an excellent welfare program, the last mile deliveries are not as smooth, the execution of this whole scheme is a mammoth task in a huge and populous country as India.
